Mayfair Apartments (Ground Floor) - Integrated Project Dossier (2016)

The Mayfair building, located on 260 Metcalfe Street, greatly illustrates historical values belonging to the Art Deco era. The Mayfair was built in 1936 and designed by a local architect, Hugh Archibald Richards. This building is an example of the Art Deco Architecture, common in the Prewar era. The building is located among various other heritage buildings in the middle of Centertown. It represents a more elegant lifestyle demonstrated by the detail and craftsmanship put into every aspect of the building. It is the goal of the owners to make minimal changes to the design of the building to preserve the history and its original beauty. This is the Integrated Project Dossier compiled by a group of undergraduate students of the Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Program (Engineers and architects) at Carleton University for the CIVE3207 (ARCN4100) Historic Site Recording and Assessment course in 2016.
