碳卫星是“十二五”期间,由科技部立项,中科院负责工程总体,中科院国家空间科学中心、中科院微小卫星创新研究院、中科院长春光学精密机械与物理研究所、中科院大气物理研究所和中国气象局国家卫星气象中心等多家单位共同承担的科学实验卫星计划,目标是实现全球大气二氧化碳柱平均干空气混合比(XCO2,下文简称“浓度”)的高精度监测,为碳排放科学研究提供卫星资料。2016年12月22日,中国碳卫星在酒泉卫星发射基地成功发射升空并在轨运行,成为继日本GOSAT和美国OCO-2后,国际上第三颗具有高精度温室气体探测能力的卫星。
The Carbon Satellite is a scientific experimental satellite project initiated during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. It was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) responsible for the overall engineering implementation, and jointly undertaken by multiple units including the National Space Science Center (NSSC) of CAS, the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of CAS, the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) of CAS, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) of CAS, and the National Satellite Meteorological Center (NSMC) of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA). The project aims to conduct high-precision monitoring of global atmospheric column-averaged dry-air mole fraction of carbon dioxide (XCO2, hereinafter referred to as "concentration"), and provide satellite data for scientific research on carbon emissions. On December 22, 2016, China's Carbon Satellite was successfully launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center and placed into on-orbit operation. It became the third satellite worldwide with high-precision greenhouse gas detection capabilities, following Japan's GOSAT and the United States' OCO-2.
