Network of Marine Protected Areas of Spain (RAMPE)

The Network of Marine Protected Areas of Spain is constituted by spaces protected sites located in the Spanish marine environment, representative of the marine natural heritage, regardless of whether their declaration and management are regulated by rules international, community and State, as well as its regulatory framework and system of relations necessary for its operation. They may also be integrated into the Network, those spaces whose declaration and management are regulated by regional standards in the case provided for in Article 36(1) of Law 42/2007 of 13 December 2007. Law 41/2010, of 29 December, on the protection of the marine environment formally creates RAMPE, regulates it and establishes its objectives, the natural spaces that make it up and the mechanisms for its designation and management.
