Checklist of Afforestation Tree Species on the Loess Plateau

We conducted an extensive literature review on the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science (WOS) using the keywords "Loess Plateau" and "afforestation tree species," yielding 2,000 pertinent articles. From these articles, we extracted data on afforestation tree species. To guarantee the precision and comprehensiveness of our data, we supplemented it with additional information from reliable sources, primarily the China Digital Herbarium. Throughout this process, we adhered strictly to the information provided by the China Digital Herbarium and cross-referenced authoritative works such as "Flora of China" and "Flora of the Loess Plateau". We meticulously reviewed and completed key details, including the Chinese and Latin names, families, genera, and life forms of the tree species. Consequently, we compiled a comprehensive list of afforestation tree species on the Loess Plateau. The statistical analysis revealed that a total of 361 species, belonging to 141 genera and 58 families, were recorded for afforestation on the Loess Plateau. Specifically, there are 194 tree species in 77 genera across 38 families, and 167 shrub species in 81 genera across 36 families.
