Estuarine monitoring of sediment chemistry and benthic ecology around the estuaries and sea loughs of Northern Ireland

Under the estuarine and coast waters monitoring programme (ECWMP) 29 sites are sampled on an annual basis for determinands such as heavy metals, trace organics, faecal bacteria and benthic invertebrates. Results from this monitoring programme are input to the National Monitoring Plan (NMP) data set of coastal water monitoring data for all the waters around the United Kingdom.
