Phylogenetic analysis and distribution of torquetenovirus in Romanian healthy individuals

Torquetenovirus (TTV) is highly prevalent in humans and little is known of the geographical distribution of this virus in the human general population.Blood samples were collected from healthy individuals residing in 7 development regions of Romania (Bucharest metropolitan area, South, South-East, North-East, Center, West and South-West development areas). From each sample, a region of the 3'UTR of the viral genome was sequenced using Sanger technology in order to determine the geographical distribution of TTV and to describe the phylogenetic relationships between isolates found in Romanian healthy subjects from different geographical areas.
