second ecology lab: quadrant and transect measurements

This environmental experiment was done in the woodlot area. During this part of the experiment 10 pairs of trees were chosen. Each pair has one adult tree and one sapling tree. The distance between each pair was measured using a transect tape. The other measurement that was done was the diameter breast height (DBH) for both trees of each pair. This type of measurement was done using the transect tape that was placed around half of the tree trunk. The last measurement that had to be done was the percentage estimation of the leaf(s) coverage on each quadrant. This was accomplished by forming a square that was considered as the quadrant using your fingers, then placing the fingers on the area of the leaf(s) that must be estimated.
