Multi-Metal Collateralized Reserve Instruments: Gold and Platinum in Capacity-Constrained Financial Systems

Abstract Reserve assets such as gold provide stability but do not generate yield. This work extends the concept of collateralized reserve transformation to a multi-asset framework incorporating both monetary and industrial metals. A structured model of gold- and platinum-linked bonds is developed, in which reserves are utilized as collateral under risk-adjusted haircuts. It is shown that heterogeneous reserve assets exhibit distinct volatility profiles, requiring differentiated treatment in financial structuring. Gold acts as a stabilizing anchor, while platinum contributes dynamic yield potential at the cost of higher volatility. A unified capacity model is introduced, demonstrating that multi-metal collateralization increases effective system capacity while maintaining stability. The framework provides a mathematically consistent approach to reserve optimization under uncertainty.
