Impact of ARGs on poultry gut metagenome

Poultry farms, characterized by intensive antibiotic use and densely populated environments, are critical hotspots for the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). Despite extensive research on ARG transmission, the specific roles of plasmids and phages in shaping resistance within poultry fecal microbiota remain insufficiently understood. This study investigates the contributions of plasmid- and phage-associated ARGs to antibiotic resistance dynamics in poultry gut microbiome.
