Metabolomics and gut metagenomics profile of the healthy adults on consumption of whey protein supplemented with enzymes-probiotics blend.

The double blind, cross over and randomized clinical study was designed on 15 healthy male subjects. The subjects were supplement with test supplement i.e., whey protein and Pepzyme Pro (enzyme and probiotics supplement) or placebo supplement i.e., whey protein and maltodextrin for 15 days with the washout period of 30 days. On day 1 and day 15, blood samples were drawn at 0, 30, 60, 120, 180, 240 min of post ingestion of the supplement for the analysis of plasma free amino acids. On day 15, blood samples at 0h and 4h of post ingestion of protein were tested for insulin and CRP level. Additionally, on day 1 and day 15 urine and fecal samples were evaluated for nitrogen level and the fecal samples were tested for gut microbiota.
