RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis is a powerful and cost-effective tool for studying gene expression and has clear advantages over other existing methods. RNA-seq is also used to detect genes expressed at low levels and permit the discovery of novel genes. Numerous studies have applied the RNA-seq method to assess the drought responses in plants and to identify drought-responsive genes. Recently, we performed transcriptome analyses of 10-week-old tobacco seedlings grown under normal conditions and subjected to drought stress for 10 d.
