RNA sequencing of mouse cortex and spinal cord used to determine how aging influences the transcriptome of the blood-brain and blood-spinal cord barriers. Total RNA was rRNA depleted, fragmented and first and second (dUTP) cDNA strands synthesised. Adaptors were ligated and the first strand underwent 13 cycles of PCR amplification. cDNA was sequenced using TruSeq PE Cluster Kit v3 reagents and the Illumina HiSeq 2500 system, with between ~82 - 95 million (spinal cord), ~69 - 92 million (cortex) 100 bp, paired-end reads, per sample.
