On 11 November 2017, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck South Korea, with its epicenter approximately 9 km west of the coastal city of Pohang. Stations near the epicenter recorded peak ground accelerations up to 0.27g and peak ground velocities up to 12 cm/sec. Local news reported damage to nearby schools and residential buildings, some of which were caught on CCTV. Reports of structural damage prompted the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Taiwan National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) to send a joint team to survey the damage to reinforced concrete and masonry structures. Over the course of one week, the team surveyed 74 structures. This dataset includes the measurements of vertical structural elements (walls and columns), including their dimensions and coordinates of 59 piloti-type structures. The data have been derived from drawings included by Sim, C. et al. "Pohang Earthquake: Reinforced concrete building damage survey." (2017), doi: 10.7277/04XV-FA16.
