A survey of the microbiomes of 20 different willow galling sawfly species using 16S rDNA metabarcoding. Larvae were collected from 20 different willow-galling sawfly species representing 13 Salix hosts and two gall types, bud and leaf galls, from Norway and Austria. The aims of the project were to characterise the microbial composition and further understand the role of the microbiome in the insect-host interaction.
