GENEVESTIGATOR

GENEVESTIGATOR, a database and Web-browser data mining interface for Affymetrix GeneChip data. Users can query the database to retrieve the expression patterns of individual genes throughout chosen environmental conditions, growth stages, or organs. Reversely, mining tools allow users to identify genes specifically expressed during selected stresses, growth stages, or in particular organs. Using GENEVESTIGATOR, the gene expression profiles of more than 22,000 Arabidopsis genes can be obtained, including those of 10,600 currently uncharacterized genes. The objective of this software application is to direct gene functional discovery and design of new experiments by providing plant biologists with contextual information on the expression of genes.GENEVESTIGATOR是一款面向Affymetrix基因芯片（Affymetrix GeneChip）数据的数据库及网页浏览器数据挖掘接口。用户可通过查询该数据库，获取单个基因在指定环境条件、生长阶段或组织器官中的表达模式；反之，依托其内置的挖掘工具，用户可筛选出在特定胁迫条件、生长阶段或特定组织器官中特异性表达的基因。通过GENEVESTIGATOR，研究人员可获取超过22000个拟南芥（Arabidopsis）基因的表达谱，其中包含10600个当前尚未被功能注释的基因。该软件应用的开发目标是为植物生物学家提供基因表达的背景信息，以此助力基因功能发掘与新实验方案的设计。
