Language rights as human rights. Identified legal documents related to language rights in education for beneficiaries of international protection

This dataset lists the legal sources for the article "Language Rights as Human Rights: Drawing upon Three Opposed Perspectives. Do Migrants Have Language Rights?". The digital collection of sources is made available on an Open Access basis.The seventeen appropriate legal documents were identified based on suitable keywords for beneficiaries of international protection in the selected issue of current research. The official databases of legal documents such as ISAP (for Polish law; website: https://isap.sejm.gov.pl/) and EU-lex (for EU law; website: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/) were used for searching. The keywords are as follows: “compulsory education+refugees”, “national curriculum”, “national minorities”, “Ukrainians”, “language discrimination”, “free movement of workers+language”, “migration policy”, “integration policy”, “knowledge of an official language”.The collected data underwent meticulous analysis to highlight language rights within compulsory education, juxtaposing the approaches of the USA and European (Poland) to uncover the practical legal hurdles encountered. This thorough examination seeks to deepen the discussion surrounding language rights, acknowledging their crucial influence in promoting cultural diversity, social cohesion, and fair integration, particularly for beneficiaries of international protection.
