The microbiome of the conjunctiva in patients with and without clinical symptoms of trachoma

Trachoma is the world''s leading infectious cause of blindness. A growing body of evidence implicates non-chlamydial bacteria in the clinical signs of trachoma independent of Chlamydia trachomatis infection. This project contains metagenomic sequence (V1-V3 regions of 16SrRNA gene) of the conjunctiva of 230 residents of The Gambia, 110 with healthy conjunctiva and 120 with clinical signs of trachoma in the absence of detectable C. trachomatis infection.
