The contribution provides a synthesis about the question relating to the relationship between Latin and the vernacular in Dante, as it emerges from his treatises (Convivio, De vulgari eloquentia, De Monarchia), assuming the interpretation which the problem was analyzed by two among the most important Apulian scholars of Dante's work: Aldo Vallone and Leonardo Sebastio.
