Unlocking the Potential of Winery Wastewater: Exploring the Influence of Storage Conditions on Hydrogen and Methane Production by Native Bacteria

The present study analyzed the influence of storage conditions on hydrogen and methane production by native bacteria from wine effluents stored under refrigeration conditions at four degrees Celsius for 5 weeks and ambient conditions for 7 weeks. The study included white wine (WW), pink wine (PW), red wine (RW), and a wine blend (WB). Ultimately, it was found that time significantly affected substrate, as during the initial 5 weeks, there were no significant differences in hydrogen production. However, the optimal time for production was observed at week 24.
