Polytomella Transcriptome Project. Polytomella

Polytomella are non-photosynthetic, wall-less, unicellular green algae, closely related to the model organism Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Here we have sequenced the transcriptomes of 3 distinct Polytomella lineages to obtain nuclear gene sequences. This data allows for the comparison among Polytomella lineages and photosynthetic relatives, further contributing to the understanding of green algal evolution. The transcriptome of Polytomella parva (SAG 63-3) was previously included in the Marine Microbial Eukaryote Transcriptome Sequencing Project (http://marinemicroeukaryotes.org/).
