资源简介:
This is a continuing investigation of a newly discovered (material collected in 2022 and 2024) tetrapod assemblage of
end-Devonian age (359 million years) from Greenland. It is the most important Devonian tetrapod discovery this century, yielding at least 5-6
new genera and the only known examples of soft-tissue preservation from this period. Previous experiments (ES-1383, ES-1297) have
yielded outstanding results from the 2022 material, including complete braincases with middle ears and a partial skeleton with associated
belly skin (a world first). We now need to scan the 2024 material, which will yield results of equal or greater significance - notably including
the earliest tetrapod coprolites (fossil faeces) in the world, containing food remains. Two manuscripts are currently in preparation for
submission to Nature, but to fully understand, assemble, and describe the new tetrapod genera we will need to pool all the data from the
2022 and 2024 excavations.
