Candidate Survey 2016 – From Studies to Employment in the Bergen Area

The "Candidate Survey - From Studies to Employment in the Bergen Area" was carried out by ideas2evidence on behalf of SiB Councelling. The survey aims to map out the candidates' experience of the job search process, the current situation on the labor market and education relevant to the job situation. The target group includes graduates with a bachelor- and master degree, general teacher training programme (four years undergraduate programme), primary teacher training programme and vocational education degree.

SIB Counselling have, since 2003, conducted the "Candidate Survey - From Studies to Employment in the Bergen Area" directed towards graduates from the University of Bergen, the Bergen University College and the Norwegian School of Economics. The survey was conducted every other year until 2011. The survey is sent to the graduates around two years after their final examinations. With that, this local survey differs from the national graduate survey, conducted by NIFU, which is sent to the graduates six months after their final examinations. The Candidate Survey 2016 finds that the majority of the graduates from the educational institutions in Bergen are well adapted to the labour market. Nevertheless, compared to 2011, unemployment have increased, less graduates get relevant work and its more common to have to send a high number of job applications in order to get a job.

Certain values have been removed from the county variable in order to avoid indirect identification. This might lead to small differences between the results from the report published by ideas2evidence and the eventual analyses based on this dataset.
