Hydrothermal metagenomes from Guaymas Basin and Pescadero Basin Metagenome. Hydrothermal metagenomes from Guaymas Basin and Pescadero Basin

During the February and March 2019 expedition FK190211 aboard RV Falkor to Guaymas Basin and Pescadero Basin, researchers collected water samples from rising plumes for metagenomic analysis. Briefly, seawater was collected via a CTD rosette, and up to 4 liters of water was passed through a 0.2 um filter. Excess liquid was removed from the filters, which were then immediately flash frozen in liquid nitrogen. Subsequently, the samples were stored at -80C for nucleic acid extraction.
