资源简介:
Achieving carbon neutrality in China requires effective forest management to address the impending attenuation of forest biomass carbon sinks (FBCS). However, the national schemes of forest management tailored for space and time are yet to be established. By taking advantage of advances in spatiotemporal investigation of forest biomass, this study derived the optimal stand biomass density and stand age in terms of forest biomass carbon sink (FBCS) across China. Accordingly, we proposed optimal spatiotemporal forest thinning and aging prevention schemes under future climates. These optimal schemes, while corresponding to intensified harvests of plantation forests, could constrain FBCS attenuation from 2003‒2020 to 2040‒2060 in China to less than 10% across different climate change scenarios. Meanwhile, intensified wood harvests will not compromise the national forest biomass carbon stock.
This dataset includes the simulated forest biomass carbon sink, forest biomass carbon stock and timber supply in China under different climate change and forest management scenarios.
