Dataset on Self-Employed Youths’ Financial and Retirement Literacy

This dataset captures self-employed youth’s financial and retirement literacy levels, including their awareness, knowledge, and capability levels, on top of demographics. The data is available in Excel format. A total of 300 responses were recorded where 54 questions were asked in the survey ranging from demographic information to savings behaviour. The data is rich and usable to analyse relationships that govern financial literacy and retirement readiness in a still niche but rapidly expanding group of workers in an emerging economy like Malaysia. Further, the data can also be compared across countries given that the survey questions were adapted from OECD’s 2011 Measuring Financial Literacy: Questionnaire and Guidance Notes for Conducting an Internationally Comparable Survey of Financial Literacy.
