NRS-4728 | Reports on inspections of outports

Reports made by the Navigation Department and later the Maritime Services Board, the latter as a whole or by a member delegated to do so, on the conditions and facilities at outports. Each port was inspected about once a year and details concerning wharves, boatsheds, pilot station, rocket shed, dwellings for staff and the performance of duties by staff were reported. Information on repairs and extensions required and deputations by local merchants and boat owners are also given. In some cases photographs, maps, copies of leases and other related papers are attached. Reports may be for a single port, a small group of ports or a large group such as all ports south of Sydney. There is not necessarily an inspection file for each year between the inclusive dates, but related papers sometimes cover this period. 1905-08, 1923-61 (7/7547-63). 17 boxes.
