Self incompatibility is characteristic of the cultivated A.Comosus(pineapple) that prevents self fertilization rates. Ananas comosus var. comosus is naturally compatible with other cultivars of A. comosus. Earlier reports shows that Ananas comosus show gametophytic SI, but no studies were done at molecular level. Aimed to understand the molecular mechanism responsible for gametophytic self incompatibility in pineapple.
