This dataset contains the times and locations of clouds identified in Mars’s atmosphere through the Cloudspotting on Mars Citizen Science Project in data acquired during Mars Year 29 (2007-2009). Cloudspotting on Mars is a NASA project on Zooniverse (https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/marek-slipski/cloudspotting-on-mars) where participants identify the pixel coordinates of arch-shaped features in Mars Climate Sounder (MCS) observations, which are displayed as images. The citizen-scientist annotations are clustered using an unsupervised machine learning algorithm and the centroids of those clusters are considered to be the locations of clouds in the images. These pixel coordinates are converted back to the times and altitudes of the associated MCS observations and other data from that MCS observation have been extracted. The resulting dataset for each of the clouds (1 row per centroid) contains the following columns: time (UTC), MCS spectral channel (Channel), cloud altitude in km (Altitude), MCS detector number of the identification (Detector), solar longitude (L_sub_s), local time (LTST), radiance measured by MCS in that Channel and Detector (Radiance), and information on the scene (Scene_lat, Scene_lon, Scene_alt, Scene_rad), Sun (Solar_lat, Solar_lon, Solar_zen) and spacecraft (SC_lat, SC_lon, SC_rad) geometry.
