The aim of the present study was to use pyrosequencing of the 16S rRNA gene to undertake a comparative evaluation of microbial community among the milk samples in clinical and subclinical mastitis. Samples were collected from farms in Anand town of Gujarat State, India. Quarter milk samples were collected aseptically in sterile wide mouth glass stopper bottles on three consecutive days. The udder was washed thoroughly with potassium permanganate solution (1:1000) and the teats were wiped with 70% ethyl alcohol prior to sampling.
