Effects of hurricane Felix on bat communities that disperse tree seeds in the North Atantic Autonomous Region of Nicaragua

This study compared bat communities that disperse tree seeds in deciduous forests with different disturbance degree caused by hurricane Felix. Also the relationship between bat communities and the types of palms present in two types of forests were evaluated. Bat communities in different forest types were characterized in six temporal plots (20m x 150m) in each forest type. Bats were captured with mist nests of 12m x 2.5m. All bat species were identified. All palm species present in 20m x 50m plots were characterized and feeding places for bats under palm leaves were identified. Also sampling of tree seeds present in bat faeces was carried out.
