This [axe]http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300024664) weighs 196g, has an oval cross-section, curved, asymmetrical edges, an asymmetrical blade and damaged butt. The blade, sides and faces are ground and polished. Remnant peck marks are visible on the highly polished faces. A clean break crosses the centre of the axe. The findspot is Rockbarton Bog, Lough Gur, Limerick. Dolerite is predominantly found in the north-east.
