Brain-wide Nissl datasets from developing and adult mouse brains (v2)

This dataset contains high-resolution images of coronal sections stained with cresyl violet to reveal neurons across the developing mouse brain. A total of 62 mice aged postnatal day (P) 9, 14, 17, 21, 35, and 120 were used in this study. Every sixth section was stained using a cresyl violet solution. These data provide neighboring sections from the same subjects stained for calbindin and parvalbumin, which are all available from separate datasets [(Bjerke et al., 2026a](https://doi.org/10.25493/ND61-ZCJ); [Bjerke et al., 2026b](https://doi.org/10.25493/J4S8-A84); [Bjerke et al., 2026c](https://doi.org/10.25493/F3F9-Z11); [Laja et al., 2025)](https://doi.org/10.25493/AXRX-Z2R). The data can be used to investigate the development of neuron numbers and densities in the mouse brain.
