Chinese chestnut (C. mollissima BL.), a member of the Fagaceae family, contains around 300 cultivars over 400 years. Chinese chestnut is commonly cultivated in temperate and subtropical regions from the northern to southern China and is regarded as the king of dried fruits due to its distinctive flavor, superior nutritional content, and significant economic and medical value. With the accelerated advances in genome sequencing technologies, there were seven draft genomes, most of them being chestnut cultivars from northern China. And a high-quality telomere-to-telomere genome assembly was lacking
