Alternative methodology in the elaboration of indicators to evaluate schools

Abstract This study aims to present the elaboration of an educational indicator derived from the variables that make up the flow of students within the school, using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The data processing by DEA made it possible to ascertain the efficiency measures of each school and to create an internal reference margin to the public school system of the city of Campinas. The basic principle was to obtain the optimal weights for the contribution of each one of these variables in the development of the indicator.
