The prognostic markers, treatment, and survival outcomes of prostate cancer for culturally and linguistically diverse men in Victoria, Australia

This PhD thesis examines how prostate cancer care and treatment outcomes vary between men from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and men born in Australia and other mainly English-speaking countries. It begins by summarising existing evidence on prostate cancer care and treatment outcomes. Then, it uses data from the Victorian Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry (PCOR-Vic) to examine differences in National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) risk category at diagnosis, treatment patterns and timeliness, and survival outcomes based on CALD status. Findings highlighted that disparities related to a person’s CALD status persist along the prostate cancer continuum, at least in Victoria.
