Characterization of potato pathogenic Streptomyces species present in Uruguay: emerging pathogens?Plant pathogenic Streptomyces produce common scab in potato. The disease has acquired global importance in recent years due to the emergence of new pathogenic strains such as S. turgidiscabies and S. acidiscabies. In addition it has been shown that the emergence of pathogenic strains has been associated with events of lateral gene transfer (LGT). Previously we conducted a population study in a collection of 85 pathogenic strains isolated from Uruguay during years 2010-2012. We showed the presence of S. scabies, S. acidiscabies, S. europaeiscabiei and a new group of pathogenic strains closely related to S. acidiscabies. In this study we selected representative strains of our sample and conducted whole genome sequencing.
