Environmental DNA as a tool for animal biodiversity monitoring. freshwater metagenome

This project aims to develop a method to allow the biodiversity monitoring of terrestrial animals by using DNA contained in environments such as water and soils (Environmental DNA or eDNA). We hypothesized that terrestrial animals shed DNA when they utilize water (e.g., for drinking), and that the eDNA can be used to detect the presence of animals living in a terrestrial ecosystem.
