Impact of feed-administered florfenicol on Atlantic Salmon gut and its microbiome

Although concerns about the impacts of antibiotics in aquatic organisms are reported worldwide, the potential adverse effects on fish gut microbial communities and fish health are still not well known. In this study, to elucidate the impact of the antibiotic florfenicol on Atlantic salmon, metatranscriptomic analyses of the gut were integrated with gut transcriptomics. Juvenile Atlantic salmon were subjected to an 18-day administration of feed coated with florfenicol at three concentrations (10, 20, and 30 mg/kg body weight), followed by a 10-day recovery period.
