Progeny of the cultivar 'Tardy Nonpareil' exhibit a bimodal distribution of blooming times, suggesting the presence of a single dominant gene. An open-pollination seedling of 'Tardy Nonpareil', 'Titan' was the pistillate parent in a cross with 'Tuono' that produced 'Felisa'. A mapping population of 134 F1 progeny was derived from the cross of 'Felisa' x 'Bertina'. The map of each parent was produced with RFLP and RAPD markers.
