An overview of author sex in sports and exercise medicine research on female only samples

An overview of the sex of all authors who published original research articles with a female only sample published in six major sports and exercise medicine journals over a seven-year period (2014-2020) were examined. A total of 2027 authors and 334 studies. The journals in question were the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the British Journal of Sports Medicine, the European Journal of Sports Science, Medicine & Science in Sport & Exercise, the Journal of Physiology, and the Journal of Sport Science & Medicine.
