A 3D µCT dataset of a titanosauriform tooth from the Early Cretaceous of Inner Mongolia, China

Dinosaurian teeth have many important features in studying comparative anatomy, systematics, physiology and ecology. However, their traditional study mainly focuses on their external morphology and pays little attention to their internal morphology. Here, this study provides a 3D µCT dataset of a titanosauriform tooth from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Inner Mongolia, representing the first high-resolution µCT dataset of a single tooth of Chinese sauropods. This dataset consists of 2843 slices with a data volume of 2.2 GB. The slices have a high-resolution density and voxel size (18 µm),clearly showing the internal structures of the teeth, such as the enamel, dentine and pulp cavity. This dataset can be 3D reconstruction by software, like VG Studio Max, and provides basic data of sauropod teeth for the study of sauropod teeth morphology and evolution.
