Orange_biomass

The dataset presented compiles the results of the screening and selection of studies included and excluded in the context of a systematic literature review on the application of Environmental Life Cycle Assessment to orange waste, covering the search and analysis period in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The data are organized to allow full traceability of the selection process, including: title, authors, abstract, year, and keywords of each study analyzed; inclusion criteria (I.C.) — studies that apply Life Cycle Assessment concepts and methods to orange biomass for waste management and valorization (e.g., peel, pulp, seeds); exclusion criteria (E.C.) — literature reviews, meta-analyses, studies that do not specifically address LCA, that do not apply the technique to orange biomass, duplicates, or those without full-text access; justification for inclusion or exclusion, detailed textual description of the rationale for classifying each study, including a synthesis of the content, scope, methodological approach, and alignment (or not) with the research objective; final classification: identification of studies that were included in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the systematic review. The file also documents the different contexts in which LCA has been applied to orange waste as reported in the literature, such as environmental assessment of biorefinery routes, bioenergy production, extraction of value-added compounds (pectin, limonene, dietary fibers), comparison of processing technologies, and analysis of alternative waste management scenarios (composting, anaerobic digestion, incineration, pyrolysis, animal feed, among others).
