Genomic Profiling of Follicular Nodular Disease using Next Generation Sequencing

Thyroid disease is the most common endocrine disease worldwide. Follicular nodular disease (FND) comprising Follicular adenoma, nodular hyperplasia, and hyperplastic goiter is a benign condition with increasing incidence. FND merits surgery in patients with compressive symptoms or thyroid nodules with suspicion of cancer. The etiology of FND remains elusive. The stepwise progression from hyperplasia through neoplasia to frank carcinoma needs to be elucidated. Hence, genomic sequencing of FND will pave the way for better molecular understanding of tumor biology.
