Comparison of expression profiles of fetal and adult BMPR1B+ chondrocytes

This research was designed to determine why fetal chondrocytes evidence regenerative capacity and adult chondrocytes do not. We then also compared adult chondrocytes treated with a newly discovered small molecule agonist of gp130 to those that weren't treated. Overall design: 7 samples were included in the developmental study: 4 replicates sorted from fetal knee articular cartilage and 3 replicates sorted from adult artilcular cartilage obtained from NDRI. In the experiment to assess the effects of drug treatment, 7 adult chondrocyte samples were sequenced after being cultured with or without the drug in 3D conditions.
