調査農家は1府20県で地域内の標準的な3ヵ村を選び、「中庸農家」から自作、自小作、小作のそれぞれ3戸、合計9戸を選択するものとされた。
The surveyors selected a standard of three villages within each of the 20 counties across one prefecture, and then chose three households from each of the categories of 'moderate farmers', 'self-farming', 'small tenant farmers', and 'tenant farmers', amounting to a total of nine households.
