SimOmics is an R package for generating realistic multivariate and multi-omics synthetic datasets. Developed by the University of Sydney, it aims to support benchmarking, method development and reproducible research in the field of bioinformatics, particularly for multi-omics integration tasks including transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics. The synthetic datasets generated by SimOmics support latent factor simulation, sparse structure modeling, blockwise covariance modeling, biology-inspired noise models and configurable feature dimensionality. It finds applications in systems biology and multi-omics integration, and is utilized for developing novel multi-omics integration methods, machine learning models, as well as drafting academic papers that require established benchmark datasets.
