Over the past decades, dissemination of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) has become a major cause of concern.1 Data on carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales in the community remain sparse. This analysis aimed to describe the prevalence, molecular epidemiology and epidemiological characteristics of faecal CPE isolates from community-dwelling residents (aged =>18 years) in the Netherlands, to gain better insight in the origin and exact genetic resistance mechanisms of CPE strains in order to inform future surveillance policy and national prevention efforts aimed at curbing the spread of CPE.
