2,4-D (2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) belongs to phenoxy family of herbicides which is widely used as post-emergence systemic herbicide to control the broadleaf weeds. High-throughput 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing provided comprehensive exploration of 2,4-D induced alteration in the composition of soil microbial community. Soil samples were collected from the Bargarh district of Odisha, India. Genomic DNA was extracted using commercial kit and subjected to sequencing. Metagenomic profiling of 2,4-D treated soil showed wide variations in bacterial taxa abundance, which explain the impacts of 2,4-D treatment on soil microbiome.
