资源简介:
This dataset compiles the data used in the paper "Benefit-risk associated with the consumption of fish bycatch from tropical tuna fisheries”. The study aimed to assess the nutritional value of 20 pelagic fish species belonging to 10 families and caught as bycatch in tropical tuna fisheries from the western Indian Ocean. We focused on their beneficial contents in proteins, fats and essential omega-3, and considered also the omega-6/omega-3 ratio and mercury content. The benefit-risk assessment used a hazard quotient for three people categories: young children, children and adults. The influence of fish length on the nutritional composition of muscle was also assessed. The dataset provides total mercury, EPA+DHA and protein concentrations for 175 fish individuals of 20 species taken as bycatch in tropical tuna fisheries of the western Indian Ocean, and landed in Seychelles in 2018 (18 fishing dates/geographical positions). It is made of 175 rows, corresponding to fish individuals, and 24 columns presenting samples’ ID, taxonomic rank, scientific name, sampling date and coordinates, individual fork length and weight, sex, individual total mercury, protein, EPA and DHA concentrations. Sample collection and analytical methods are presented in the corresponding paper.
