Nasturtium officinale Transcriptome or Gene expression

Watercress is a nutrient-dense crop with a long history of cultivation by humans. However, little genetic information exists about this crop species and research is primarily focused on biomedical aspects and consumer health benefits. The aim of this project was to expand the molecular resources for watercress in order to inform research and industry in the future. The project objectives included the description of the watercress transcriptome, the production of the first sequence and marker data for watercress, and the identification of genes and pathways contributing tot the crop's high-nutrient phenotype.
